The department Software Development and Platforms is the dev unit within the Bavarian public broadcaster Bayerischer Rundfunk. We build websites and blogs and smart applications for screens of all sizes. We work closely together with various editorial teams in radio, television and web and have developed digital products and innovative platforms such as BR24, BR Mediathek or – in collaboration with ARD Online - the ARD Audiothek.

Your tasks:

For our Audience Analytics team we are looking for a Junior Web Analyst who is passionate about numbers and the stories they tell. You will support us understand the behaviour and needs of our users as they interact with our content across all our digital platforms. You will work with our programming and editorial teams to unearth actionable insights to promote data-driven decision making and shape longterm product strategies.   • Work closely with editorial teams, UX design and engineering teams to define success metrics and analytics strategy for new and existing products.
  • Organize and visualize data with the help of analytics dashboards.
  • Create and maintain analytics reports delivering insights on the behavior of users, site performance, new feature success, and testing.
  • Present your findings to teams and management to help support decision making.
  • Support troubleshooting of any data issues related to tracking and reporting.
  • Partner with User Experience team on A/B testing projects, hypothesis creation, KPI definition, and data-driven UX design.

Your profile:

  • Strong analytical aptitude: Bachelor’s degree (or preferably Master’s) in a technical or quantitative discipline (Statistics, Computer Science, Business Intelligence, Psychology, Sociology), OR demonstrated analytical and technical ability.
  • Approx. 1-3 years of experience as a data analyst (OR similar role). For applicants from abroad: Working experience in a German company of 6 to 18 months minimum. 
  • Fluency in German OR English. Office language is German, but we also have colleagues who only speak English.
  • Analytical mindset, structured mode of working, and passion for digging into data to identify key trends and guide business decisions.
  • Proficiency in Google Analytics and Datastudio (alternatively Power BI, Looker, Tableau or comparable), and complete and accurate web data collection.
  • Solid Excel skills.
  • Knowledge of SQL, working exposure to SEO tools, Datawarehouse projects and agile working methods are strong assets.
  • A high interest in journalism and the latest developments in digital news- and video- platforms.
