Pre-selection
a) Reinhold Glière, Concerto, op. 91, 1st movement (with own cadenza)
b) Peter Maxwell Davies, Sea Eagle, 3rd movement

First round (25 minutes maximum)
1. One of the following works:
Luigi Cherubini, Sonata No. 2 in F major (Articulation of the autograph – available in the competition office)
Joseph Haydn, Concerto No. 1 in D major (with own cadenza): 2nd movement and one more movement chosen by the jury

2. One of the following concertos for Horn:
Oliver Knussen
Henri Tomasi

Second round (35 minutes maximum)
3. One of the following works:
Kalevi Aho, Solo X
Yehezkel Braun, No. 1 and No. 2 from 12 Preludes
Stanley Friedman, Topanga variations No. 1, No. 2 and No. 4.
Heinz Holliger, Cynddaredd – Brenddwyd (Fury – Dream)
Olivier Messiaen, Appel Interstellaire (No. 6 from Des canyons aux ètoiles)
Esa Pekka Salonen, Concert Étude
Daniel Schnyder, Le Monde Miniscule (selection)

4. one of the following works:
York Bowen, Sonata E flat major, op. 101
Paul Hindemith, Sonata E flat major (1943)
Volker David Kirchner, Tre Poemi
Jane Vignery, Sonata op. 7 (Edition Brogneaux, 1948)

5. Robert Schumann, Adagio und Allegro

Semifinal (with the Munich Chamber Orchestra, without conductor)
6. one of the following works:
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Concerto E flat major, KV 495
(with own cadenza) (Urtext edition)
Carl Maria von Weber, Concertino for horn and orchestra

7. Britta Byström, composition commissioned
for the International Music Competition 2021 (world premiere)
The sheet music will be supplied along with the admission to the competition. The commissioned composition may be performed with the music, it may not be publicly performed prior to the competition.

Final (with the Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks)
8. Richard Strauss, Concerto No. 2 in E flat major

The works from No. 1, 5, 6 and 8 are to be performed from memory.
