Music by Monteverdi, Carissimi, Händel and Vivaldi will be on the program when early music expert Giovanni Antonini mounts the podium of the Chor des Bayerischen Rundfunks on October 25. On June 14, Bavarian-born composer Simon Mayr would have celebrated his 250th birthday. To commemorate the event the Münchner Rundfunkorchester performed Mayr’s opera “Giovanna di Scozia” on that day in Ingolstadt. A live recording of this performance has now been released on CD.
